Begin by rubbing a lime wedge on the rim of your serving glass (alternatively use agave or honey).
Place salt or tajin on a shallow plate. Gently tap the rim of the glass into the salt to coat. Set aside.
Using a high-powered blender, add frozen watermelon cubes, 2 ounces of tequila, cointreau (or orange-flavored liqueur), and lime juice. Blend until smooth.
Carefully pour into the tajin or salt-rimmed cocktail glass and garnish with a slice of lime or a lime wedge.
- If you don't have a cocktail jigger, here's an alternative measuring method. 1 fluid ounce = 2 tablespoons. 2 fluid ounces = 4 tablespoons = ¼ cup. ½ fluid ounce = 1 tablespoon. ¼ fluid ounce = ½ tablespoon.
- Be sure to blend this for long enough for all the watermelon to blend fully. You don't want any chunks in your drink!
- If your watermelon is in-season, ripe, and sweet, you will not need any simple syrup in this frozen watermelon margarita. If your watermelon isn't ripe, you may wish to add a bit of agave or syrup. Because this recipe is sweetened naturally, it technically counts as a skinny margarita!
