This delicious cocktail takes the classic mojito and makes it even easier to make by using lemonade! Refreshing and simple, this lemonade mojito is the best!

If you're anything like me, you love a good refreshing summer cocktail. And, while I like to sometimes cook complicated food, I like to have my drinks be as simple as they possibly can be.
This lemonade mojito gives all the flavors of a classic mojito, but uses pre-made lemonade to reduce prep time. Using lemonade means not having to make simple syrup and not having to squeeze as much citrus.
Why you'll love this recipe
- Easy - Using lemonade makes this one of the easiest cocktail recipes ever!
- Customizable - Traditionally this mojito is made with rum, but you could use and white liquor! Also, you could use a light lemonade if you prefer.
- Refreshing - Imagine sipping this lemonade mojito by the pool this summer, SO refreshing.
What you need for this recipe
Ingredients and Substitutions:

- White Rum - Traditional mojitos are made with white rum, but don't use something like malibu. However, I think gin or tequila would be good as well!
- Lemonade - Use your favorite lemonade! Feel free to use low calorie or low sugar options if you prefer.
- Lime Juice - Freshly squeezed is highly recommended.
- Fresh Mint - It isn't a true mojito without fresh mint! Do not substitute for a mint extract.
How to make this recipe
Step 1: Measure and Prep Ingredients
Measure out the alcohol, lemonade, and lime juice.
I highly recommend squeezing the lime juice fresh.
Step 2: Make the Cocktail
In a shaker, add alcohol, lemonade, lime juice, and mint leaves.
Secure the lid and shake aggressively for at least 30 seconds, until your hands are very cold from the shaker.
Use a fine mesh strainer in addition to the strainer with your shaker, to double-strain the mojito into a glass.
Step 3: Garnish
Add additional ice to your glass to your liking.
Since you double strained the cocktail, there should not be any pieces of mint in the drink.
Choose an attractive mint bunch and clap it between your hands to release some of the fragrant oils.
Top with sparkling water if desired.
Garnish your drink with said mint bunch and enjoy!

Expert Tips and Tricks
- Use a high quality lemonade that you enjoy the taste of on it's own! Or, for a lighter option, use a low sugar or low calorie lemonade.
- If possible, I highly encourage you to squeeze your own lime juice. You'll taste the difference!
- White rum is the best option for a lemonade mojito, but I'd advise against using flavored and cheap rums, such as Malibu. Opt for a good quality white rum (Plantation Rum is a great option), or use a tequila or gin in a pinch!
Recipe FAQs
While it isn't the classic method of making a mojito, it maintains the sweet citrus flavor while simplifying the process, since you won't have to make simple syrup!
Typically, clear liquors like gin, tequila, rum, or vodka, go best with lemonade. However, a nice bourbon or even a spiced rum can pair great with lemonade!
While all cocktails will taste a bit like alcohol, a mojito hides the rum flavor very well. This makes it very tasty and also a bit dangerous if you drink too many!
